Michael In Talks to Join "Jane Got a Gun"

It may be that Jane Got a Gun, but it’s looking more and more like Michael Fassbender will be its triggerman: Our spies tell us that Fassbender is negotiating to star in the Western that’s already attracted Natalie Portman and We Need to Talk About Kevin director Lynne Ramsay.

Natalie Portman, who is also producing, will play a woman married to an outlaw who returns home bullet-riddled and half-dead, betrayed by criminal confederates hot on his heels. Fassbender would play the ex-lover Portman seeks out to help her defend her farm from the imminent onslaught of black hats.

The project is being made independently, with the budget well under $20 million.

It will be interesting to see if a deal can be sealed with Fassbender, who’s currently in the midst of shooting The Counselor with his old Prometheus director Ridley Scott. If the talks continue to go as well as they have, we hear the plan is to put Jane before cameras by early next year. (Source)

"Prometheus" Deleted Scenes Title and Running Times Revealed

There’s no hiding the fact that Ridley Scott’s summer sci-fi adventure Prometheus caused a divide amongst moviegoers and critics alike. But now that the dust has settled – and we’re a little over two months away from the film’s theatrical release – it would seem like it’s time to put away all Prometheus verbal sparring for now … or at least until the DVD/Blu-ray comes out.

Well some folks are already looking for pieces to fill the puzzle of myriad plot holes and logical gaps found throughout the film within the names of the deleted scenes on the DVD release. BleedingCool.com has found the list courtesy of the BBFC and with scene names like “The Engineers Arrive,” “Our First Alien,” and “Paradise.” Maybe some of the loose ends of Prometheus will be tidied up. Keep in mind, these aren’t being reinstated into the film despite the fact that Scott has a storied love of director’s cuts, but perhaps there’s some semblance of meaning in these scenes for those still searching for it.

The full list of deleted scene titles is below if you want to try to figure this one out for yourself, or you could just wait for the film to come out on October 11th and you can just actually watch them then. Either way, happy hunting!

Damon Lindelof Talks Infamous "Prometheus" Line

Damon Lindelof sat down with the Wall Street Journal to discuss his latest film, Prometheus and answered some ‘burning questions.’ For those who have seen the film, many will know Michael’s character David made mention to “36 hours.” Take a look at what one of the writers (most known for his work on the TV series, Lost) had to say:

There was also a lot of debate about a line in which David the android says that the crew has been asleep for “2 years, 4 months, 18 days, 36 hours, 15 minutes.” People didn’t understand why he wouldn’t have just said “2 years, 4 months, 19 days, 12 hours, 15 minutes.”

Damon Lindelof: The “36 hours” line has been burning a hole in my side because I wasn’t there on the day they shot it. I don’t know if it was an ad-lib by Michael or an idea by Ridley, that wasn’t the line that we wrote. So when people contact me and say “Explain this. Is it a glitch in David?” I have to say “I can’t take responsibility for this.” So, I do think in terms of fair play with the audience, Twitter is a medium for me to say “I can’t come out now and bullshit you.” God forbid somebody pulls the script one day and sees that line is not even in the script. So I have to be honest.

Michael Fassbender was in six movies last year, but have mass audiences figured out who this chameleonic German-Irish actor is yet? Certainly, Fassbender keeps them guessing: He’s an indie-film staple in films like Fish Tank, Hunger, and A Dangerous Method, but he’s co-starred in three huge hits — Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class, and Prometheus — where his characters couldn’t have been more different. If part of becoming a movie star necessitates cultivating a familiar persona, the closest Fassbender has come to a reputation is the lusty one sparked by his full-frontal character in Shame, which gave better-known stars like Charlize Theron and George Clooney material to razz him about on awards shows.

Pundits declared him a Best Actor Oscar frontrunner for that film, but the snubbed Fassbender wasn’t quite there yet. Still, Hollywood is clearly excited to have a handsome new Daniel Day-Lewis type to play with, and his good looks and risque roles appeal to magazine editors and gossipmongers alike. Now 35, Fassbender shows signs of scaling back, and he has only two movies scheduled for release next year: McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave and Ridley Scott’s The Counselor. Then, of course, he’ll reprise his role as Magneto opposite Jennifer Lawrence in an X-Men sequel slated for 2014.

"X-Men: First Class" Sequel Secures Name

News first broke back in June that Fox had apparently registered the title X-Men: Days of Future Past with the MPAA, intending for it to be subtitle for the follow-up to X-Men: First Class. Thankfully for X-Men fans (and those with access to Wikipedia) that reveal inadvertently hinted at potential plot points. Well, according to a brief report on Russian news site Film Business Today, those rumours appeared to have been well founded.

Well, that’s about all the concrete news we’ve gotten regarding an official title, so about those plot points I mentioned? Well, “Days of Future Past” is a two-arc issue from the comics where Kitty Pryde (the sneaky mutant who was portrayed by Ellen Page in X-Men: The Last Stand) transfers her mind to her past self in order to help alter a series of events that lead to a mass mutant round-up and subsequent mass imprisonment. It would only be safe to assume that Fox and director Mathew Vaughan plan to use at least some elements from the source material, which means we’re in for an awesome time-travelling angle.

It is also being kept a mystery as to whom in particular the film would focus. As the former allies known as Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr have parted ways, that leaves the option for a film based upon the rise of the X-Men, the rise to prominence of Magneto’s forces or a largely duel tale. If the Kitty Pride angle remains, it’s anyone’s guess how she will fit into the universe asVaughansees it.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will begin shooting in January 2013 for a release date currently slotted for July 18, 2014. Fox has previously pushed back their time table for the sequel to allow star Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Mystique) to complete filming on another sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Other principle cast members including Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are also set to return. (Source)

Rosie Perez Joins the Cast of "The Counselor"

Rosie Perez has boarded Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, joining a cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.

Cormac McCarthy penned the script about a lawyer who attempts to get into the drug business. Fox will distribute with Scott, Steve Schwartz, Nick Wechsler and Paula Mae Schwartz producing for Scott Free and Chockstone Pictures.

Perez can be seen next in Walden Media’s Won’t Back Down. She is repped by ICM Partners and Authentic Talent and Literary Management. (Source)

"X-Men: First Class" Sequel to Feature More Michael!

Now that Comic-Con is behind us, what do comic book junkies have to look forward to? Well, according to Collider, the answer is the X-Men: First Class sequel — which will include the back story of Michael Fassbender’s character, Magneto.

In an interview with the film’s writer/producer Simon Kinberg, new details emerged about the comic book flick he calls “the most guarded state secret I’ve ever been around.”

The plan for the sequel — which he says “is unlike the other X-Men movies” — is to do some unexpected things with Xavier and Magneto. In February he told MTV, “Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he’s a much more complicated character as a young man. He’s someone you sympathize with, you care about, you root for even though you might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy.”

In the new movie, Magneto will have “a villainous side and he’ll have a sympathetic human side. You’ll be able to relate, but you’ll also be afraid of him.”

Kinberg has been working closely with director Matthew Vaughn and producer Jane Goldman on the script and they hope to begin shooting in spring of next year to come out in July of 2014. (Source)

Michael and his Prometheus co-star, Charlize Theron grace the cover of the August 2012 issue of W Magazine. The Prometheus costars chatted with the magazine’s Lynn Hirschberg about their Ridley Scott action movie, and posed for the sexy shots. Take a look at the interview exerpts below:

Charlize on sex vs. dying scenes:
“It depends on who you’re doing the sex scene with. I don’t have issues being naked [pauses]. That sounds very slutty… What I mean is, I’m not hung up on my body, and I’ve been lucky to work with people I’ve been really comfortable with.”

Michael on challenging himself:
“When I was out of work as an actor, I would give myself little challenges, and diving was one of them… when I was 23. I trained for a while and finally got the courage to go up the stairs to the high board. I was at the top, and I was standing there for ages, shivering. A kid who was 10 or 11 came over to me and said, ‘The first time you jump off, you’re going to get hurt a little bit, but it won’t be as bad as you think.’… I took his advice, but I didn’t fully commit. I hurt my leg.”

Charlize on her first Fassbender movie:
“Hunger. A friend said, ‘You have to see this movie. It’s the best thing I’ve seen in my entire life.’ I thought, Just chill out, okay? But I was absolutely blown away by it. It was, like, all bets are off from now on. This is the guy.”

Michael Is One of the Top "Fifty Shades" Contenders

Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender have been tipped by bookmakers as the favorite to play the lead role in a Hollywood adaptation of literary and “mommy porn” sensation 50 Shades of Grey.

Gosling has been given 2/1 odds to play Christian Grey, the sado masochistic master with Prometheus actor Michael Fassbender just behind him with odds of 3/1 by Ladbrokes the British bookmaker.

Fassbender, who moved to Killarney at age 2 from Germany, is supposedly interested in the role. According to The Independent, one lady bet a three figure sum that Fassbender would nab the role of the billionaire from EL James bestselling novels.

Magic Mike star Channing Tatum said he would consider playing the role also. The 32-year-old told Glamour magazine he would definitely be interested in the part but only if his wife, Jenna Dewan, could play his co-star.

“I’d only be allowed if my wife was Ana. She’s read the books so I don’t think she’d be impressed if she couldn’t be Ana!” Channing said.

For the role of the female protagonist Anastasia Steele, both Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson have been named as contenders for the part.

“The nation has gone 50 shades of crazy for the book so it’s impossible to see how the film won’t be a success either,” Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes betting agents told the Independent. “The odds suggest 50 Shades will cane its competition in the box office.”

The erotic novels penned by British author E. L. James have enjoyed international success, selling over 20 million copies worldwide so far. (Source)

Michael to Star In and Produce "Assassin's Creed"

Ubisoft has nabbed Michael Fassbender, one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, to topline its big-screen adaption of Assassin’s Creed. The Prometheus star has signed to star in and produce the film based on Ubisoft’s uber-successful video game franchise.

Fassbender will play Desmond Miles, a bartender who is a descendant of several lines of prominent assassins. The story weaves between present day and ancient times as Miles squares off with the Knights Templar.

The project, which was loosely set up at Sony, has no director or U.S. distributor yet. (Source)
